Comparisons by brand — every nameplate, every comparison.
Some buyers cross-shop within a brand they trust — three Audi generations, or two Mercedes trims. Others compare the same class across dealer networks. Either way, brand is the most-used filter on Automobilisto. This page lists every manufacturer that appears in at least one of our 27 comparisons, with the count of cross-brand, generation and trim comparisons featuring each.

Most cross-shopped brand pairings
The brand combinations our readers compare most frequently — based on comparison-page traffic and clickstream data from Q1 2026
- #1Audi↔BMW↔MercedesThe German premium triangle, across every segment. The single most-searched brand combination in the German market — the A4 against the 3 Series and C-Class alone draws a fifth of the traffic.
- #2VW↔Škoda↔SEATVW Group siblings on shared platforms. The price-versus-prestige question for buyers who have committed to the group's engineering but not yet to the badge.
- #3Audi↔BMW (EVs)PPE against the Neue Klasse: the architecture question for buyers choosing between the next electric Audi and BMW.
- #4Hyundai↔KiaKorean sibling-shopping. Same platform, same engines, separate brands and dealer networks — the closest thing to a controlled experiment in car buying.
- #5Tesla↔German EVsTesla against tradition, in every body class. Charging architecture, software and the dealer experience decide more than the spec sheet does.
- #6Toyota↔VWMostly a powertrain question: hybrid Toyota against diesel Volkswagen for high-mileage drivers, decided where the hybrid's economy overtakes the TDI's.
Where the comparisons come from
Our coverage follows the German market, but the brands themselves come from 26 different countries. German manufacturers dominate the comparison set (about 93% of all comparisons feature at least one German brand) — but Japanese, Korean and American brands have a strong presence reflecting actual cross-shopping patterns.
Brands missing from this list haven’t failed quality criteria; they simply don’t appear in comparisons yet. We add a brand once we have at least three published comparisons featuring it — under that threshold, the brand page would be too thin for editorial value.

A comparison is “featuring brand X” if at least one of the cars compared is from that brand. Comparisons can feature multiple brands — the A4 vs 3 Series vs C-Class comparison is counted under all three of Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The sum of per-brand counts therefore exceeds 27.
We use brand for the consumer-facing nameplate (Audi), not the legal entity (Audi AG). This matches how readers search and how the catalog organises models. Sub-brands like AMG, RS and quattro GmbH are folded into their parent brand.
In Q2 2026 we add BYD, Polestar, MG and Genesis to brand coverage as their German market presence reaches the three-comparison threshold. Audi additions: dedicated subpages for the e-tron lineup.
